Having just released their debut album “Elevator Music” a groove and a half ago, Trüby Trio now make a further move. “Alegre 2004” is the third taster in a forthcoming series of remixes to be released on Compost Records in October 2004 and this time it’s Trüby Trio again who have “Retreated” and let some other artists get the remix-shoe on.
Beginning with their foundation in 1997, the art of remixing has been extensively exercised by the (logically) three members of Trüby Trio, Rainer Trüby, Roland Appel & Christian Prommer. Since the very beginning they played in the Champions League of the dance business, as they brought different flavours like Brazil, Latin or even Disco music together. In doing this they were one of the inventors for a completely new dance genre. Ever since the interest in their music has been steadily growing - just think of their remix works for such artists as Turntable Rocker, Nitin Sawhney, Peace Orchestra, Bebel Gilberto, Klaus Doldinger and Frederic Galliano.
But in the meantime, the situation’s changed and some other electronic maestros have taken care of the Trüby Trio tracks. Maestros such as Louie Vega. Being head of the Masters At Work label and production team together with Kenny Dope, Grammy nominee Louie Vega consequently applies this principle to his own remix work as well and is represented with 4 approaches to “Alegre 2004” on this 12”. Beside the “Elements Of Life” main mix, the featured versions also include a dub mix and two more versions of “Alegre 2004” that will make you keep that swingin’ feel in mind which the originals by Trüby Trio already contained. Heading for the next Grammy nomination, eh?
Terry Venemous is releasing new music every 3 weeks this year. His latest EP is sumptuous art pop with a wry sense of detachment.
